| In a Kingston first, Council is trialling the closure of a road to vehicular traffic to improve the safety of school children.
A section of Eulinga Road, Clarinda, will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from the first school term in 2012 until the end of the school year.
The trial road closure would greatly enhance the safety of children at Clarinda Primary School.
Clarinda Primary School has a unique layout because the school buildings are on the west side of Eulinga Road and the recreational ovals are on the east side. This road closure will enable pupils to better utilise their school oval.
Temporary concrete kerbing will be installed during the week before Term 1 begins.
If the trial is successful, the section of road may be permanently closed to vehicular traffic. This would come after extensive community and stakeholder consultation.
