| | Kingston takes in 13km of Port Phillip Bay foreshore, including the largest stretch of unbroken beach in metropolitan Melbourne.
The foreshore is Crown land and is managed by Council on behalf of all Victorians for the benefit of the broader community today, without compromising the needs of future generations.
The southern section is characterised by a dune system, while the northern section is dominated by highly modified sandstone cliffs.
The foreshore provides plenty of recreation facilities including 5 sailing and boating clubs, 7 life saving clubs, picnic and BBQ facilities, and areas of open space. The natural foreshore environment is under constant pressure from the thousands who visit it each year. Protecting the foreshore is everyone’s responsibility. | |
