Kingston Council presents the Garage Sale Trail 2012

Kingston Council is encouraging residents to de-clutter their homes and make a little pocket money by holding a garage sale on Saturday 5 May 2012 as part of the annual Garage Sale Trail.

The Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s largest and most successful community-based marketplace event.

We’re encouraging everyone to hold a garage sale simultaneously on Saturday 5 May 2012. It’s an attractive prospect for garage sale holders as their event is advertised across the municipality for free. Having so many garage sales to visit in one day also makes it worthwhile and fun for shoppers!

In 2011, 62 households in Kingston got involved, earning an average $331 per participant. Australia-wide there were more than 1,613 garage sales, 3450 participating households, 77,000 shoppers, and 72,586 items sold/saved from landfill.

Council is anticipating that this year would be even bigger and better with more households participating and more items for sale.

Council is very excited to be bringing the Garage Sale Trail to Kingston. It is a great opportunity to bring our community together, while showing that recycling and sustainability can be fun and social.

If last year’s event is anything to go by, there will be pop-up record stores, art shows, bike sales, backyard bands, as well as your classic clothes and vintage gold. Plus, it's a great chance to meet the neighbours and celebrate one’s local community.

Registrations are now open. Put your sale on the trail or see what’s on offer at www.garagesaletrail.com.auor check www.facebook.com/GarageSaleTrailto stay in the loop.
