The City of Kingston:
 is one of Victoria’s major employment centres. About 1 million people live within 30 minutes drive
 is home to almost 8,000 businesses employing over 70,000 people
 has one of the most concentrated industrial sectors in Australia with about 4,200 businesses and 27,000 industrial jobs (almost 11% of Melbourne’s total)
 has the highest manufacturing output of any Victorian city (valued at more than $5 billion)
 has about 1/3 of working residents employed within its boundaries.

Manufacturing sectors:
Engineering, plastics and chemicals, food, beverages and tobacco, metal fabrication, printing, aerospace and marine.

Vehicle industry
A large number of new vehicle parts are designed and made in Kingston. Major automotive suppliers include Hella, Delphi Automotive Systems, Marand Precision Engineering, Holden Special Vehicles, UP Industries and Mackay Consolidated.

These support many smaller manufacturers in the plastics, engineering and metals fabrications industries.

Industrial Areas
Our industrial areas cover about 14 sq km. Key areas are found in: Moorabbin, Parkview Estate in Heatherton, Oakleigh South, Clayton South, Chifley Estate on Moorabbin Airport, Redwood Gardens Estate in Dingley Village, Mentone, Mordialloc, Braeside, Woodlands Estate in Braeside and Chelsea Heights.

Of these areas Parkview, Woodlands and Chifley are the newest and are still expanding.
