Lens Mist Photographic Award Winners Announced!  Printer Friendly

It is with great pleasure the City of Kingston is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Lens Mist Photographic Competition!

Hundreds of photographers submitted exceptional images for this year's Lens Mist Photographic Award and Exhibition. Photographs explored the traditional nature of seascape photography, particular to, but not exclusive to Victoria’s Port Phillip Bay region. Photos were judged on originality, creativity, imagination and vision.

Kingston Arts Curatorial Committee was made up of acclaimed artist and photographer Bindi Cole, Curator of Photography at NGV Susan Van Wyk and Art Consultant Michele Cooper Hede.

"For countless generations, people have stared out to sea, mesmerised by the distant horizon. For artists and photographers, the sea lends itself to a range of expressive, descriptive picture-making. The works that were presented to the judges in the Lens Mist 2012 competition showed a diversity of approaches to a common subject. There were images of the limitless beauty of the sea and sky, photographs of extraordinary coastal landscapes and pictures that were a celebration of the experience of being at the beach. All the works presented evoked a sense of the limitless wonder of the sea, and inspire viewers to set off on all manner of journeys of discovery." Susan van Wyk
