In addition, the MyLanguage website provides online access to information, newspapers, and resources in over 60 languages.

| Genealogy and Local History | | We hold an extensive collection of genealogy resources from Australia and overseas at our Parkdale branch, including birth, death and marriage records, shipping and passenger lists, cemetery records and census information. These can be viewed on computers with CD Rom access or microfiche readers. Bookings are for 1 hour and can be made by contacting the Parkdale branch on 1300 135 668. We also run classes on researching genealogy on the internet. A catalogue of microfiche and CDROMs held in the collection can be downloaded. It is also available at all branches for free. Staff can give basic help or experienced volunteer researchers are available to help you get started with your research on Monday and Friday mornings (10am – 1pm) Wednesday afternoons (1pm – 4pm) and the first Sunday of the month (2pm – 4pm).
Parkdale branch library also holds a large collection of local history materials from the Kingston area and across Victoria. Some local newspapers are available to view in print or microfilm. An interesting range of articles can be read on the Kingston historical website.
Genealogy Information Sheets Now Online Two key information sheets for genealogists and family historians prepared by the State Library of Victoria are now available online. 'Publishing your Family History' lists important information for anyone interested in self-publishing their family history.
