Borrowing
You need to bring your library card whenever you wish to borrow, or use the internet at the library.

Self-service checkout points are available at Cheltenham, Chelsea, Clarinda, and Parkdale libraries. You'll need to have allocated a PIN to your library card to be able to use this feature. Please ask staff at any branch if you wish to have a PIN allocated to your card.

Borrowing Period
Books, Audio books, CD Roms, DVDs and Videos can be borrowed for 3 weeks. High Demand DVDs, CDs, Nintendo Wii games and Magazines can be borrowed for 1 week.

Renewals
An item on loan can be renewed if:
 
 The item has not already been renewed (maximum 1 renewal per item)
 The item has not been placed on reserve by another borrower.
 

The item is renewed with your usual borrowing period starting from the day of renewal. You can renew your Library items using 3 options:

1. Online: Select the 'Renew and check loans option. You will need to have your library card number and PIN to be able to access this feature. Please ask staff at any branch if you wish to have a PIN allocated to your card.

2. Via telephone: Call the library on 1300 135 668, and have your library card number ready.

3. In person: Let the library staff know the titles of the items you wish to renew.

Returning Items
Items can be returned at any of the 8 branches in Kingston. There's also a returns bin available in the car park at the Patterson Lakes Community Centre.

Late Returns
Items borrowed must be returned during opening hours on the due date. You will be liable to pay fines or costs incurred for materials that are returned late, lost or damaged.

If charges are owing on a card, borrowing privileges and access to library computers will be suspended.

Lost or Damaged Items
Contact library staff if you have lost or damaged an item. A replacement charge will be incurred.

Reporting a Lost Card
If you lose your Library card, contact any Kingston library immediately, as you're responsible for all items borrowed on your card.

To replace your card, please see staff at any branch, showing identification with your name and current address on it. A charge is incurred for replacing a lost card.

Reporting a Change of Details
If your personal details have changed please come into any library with identification showing your new details.
