Title: Pursued: An Australian woman's true story of pain, courage and victory

Pursued - a wonderful true story of someone I actually know. Couldn't put it down, ready it in one day. Fantastic reading. Can't wait for the sequal.

Title: Santa Clawed
Author: Rita Mae Brown & Sneaky Pie Brown
Format: Book
Target audience: Adult

A festive fiction offering from my favourite feline author Sneaky Pie Brown and human co-writer Rita Mae. This is the 17th in a charming cozy series set in contemporary Virginia, populated by old southern families, good manners, genteel rural pursuits and a regular supply of corpses.

These mysterious murders are usually solved by the former local postmistress "Harry" who noses out the solutions aided by her pets. A devoted trio of sleuths, 2 cats & a corgi, often unmask the killer and save their mistress from danger. The animal characters add a quaint & whimsical charm to this unique series which is further enhanced by the beautiful drawings illustrating each title. Once you get to meet the human & animal inhabitants of Crozet, Virginia each new story is a welcome holiday visit to a familiar and loved small
town, a slice of rural America with murder on the side. Santa Clawed is a great Christmas read filled with images of snow covered hills, frozen bodies & cats climbing the christmas tree and saving the day.

Title: Twilight (series)
Author: Stephanie Meyer
Format: Book
Target audience: Young adult

This series would have to be the best boks I have ever read. It's a dream that every girl wants to have by falling in love with a vampire and the ups and downs she is going through.

Title: Murder on a Midsummer Night
Author: Kerry Greenwood
Format: Book

The latest Phryne Fisher romp from Kerry Greenwood, 'Murder on a Midsummer Night' is perfect summertime entertainment, designed to get you in the holiday mood. Though the Melbourne heat is trying our heroine never wilts on the case & justice prevails while the the greedy, nasty and gullible are deservedly exposed.

Phyrne investigates a suicide which is really a murder, a lost child residing in the very bosom of the family, a tale of treasure and mystic strife & ghostly revelations. This is an enjoyable adventure for devotees of the series and for those wishing to sample melbourne life in the slower age of the 1920's through the adventures of a glamorousinvestigator.

Title: The Mastery Club
Author: Liliane Grace
Format: Book
Target audience: Young Adult/Adult

A fabulous book which explains the "universal laws" and gives practical applications that can be understood and used by every-one. This book is changing the life of readers as young as 8 and as old as 88! The following reviews are 2 of the many on Liliane's website - and I can't say it any better.

"Not merely an adolescent book, The Mastery Club is definitely an enthralling and timeless book for all ages. The author has successfully pulled together facts, tools and techniques of the power of the mind and blended them into this wonderful story." - Conscious Living Magazine, Australia.

"The Mastery Club is engaging, captivating and thought-provoking for the enquiring mind of any age. The universal laws are so clearly laid out in this phenomenal story. Give it to your kids and read it yourself." - Kirsty Dunphey, author, entrepreneur, National Telstra Young Business Woman of the Year, 2002.

Titles: The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett & The Camel Bookmobile by Masha Hamilton
Format: Book
Target audience: Adult

A Tale of two Bookmobiles - Librarians have long believed that books have the power to change lives and these two novels demonstrate the impact of words & reading in two very different stories.

In The Uncommon Reader a whimsical & amusing story conjures a scenario of books impacting on the very heart and structure of British government. Queen Elizabeth discovers the local council bookmobile parked alongside Buckingham Palace and wanders in chasing the corgis. Feeling obliged to then borrow a book, Her Majesty becomes a committed reader with a thirst for reading which surprises and then frustrates her courtiers who find her attention to duty beginning to wander. Eventually both her subjects and government find her love of reading having an unexpected impact on the conventions of monarchy. A funny and entertaining read.

The second novel also deals with the impact of bookmobiles but in another context entirely. The Camel Bookmobile is a lyrical saga of the journey of an American librarian in Africa delivering books to a nomadic tribe in Kenya by camels. This government sponsored scheme to promote literacy in remote areas is undertaken with much zeal by the visiting white woman and with reluctance on the part of the African librarian designated to assist her. Issues of cultural imperialism, social conflict ,change & modernity are themes explored as the impact of books upon the lives of the tribe unfold. The red dust pervades the landscape and the power of words on the human heart & soul is lyrically depicted. This is a moving novel with beautifully drawn characters who leave you wondering upon their fate at the story's close. Both are recommended reads.

Target audience: Adult

Read by Jennifer Jay Myers. The writer Susan Orlean delves into the world of John Laroche, all-round wacky guy and orchid thief. It takes you through the history of orchids and culture of the orchid collectors. The book is quite funny. The movie adaptation was inspired by this book.

Title: Keeping Mum
Starring: Maggie Smith, Rowan Atkinson
Format: DVD
Target audience: Adult

If you are not a lover of black comedy, then don't watch this! For those of us who like our humour a little warped, this film is a winner. It has a great cast (Maggie Smith, as always, is a standout) & a storyline with as many twists and turns as the Great Ocean Road.
