One Vision Council Plan 2013-17 & Living Kingston 2035
The Council Plan represents an exciting direction for the City of Kingston. Our aim is to deliver on a vision to build a city that is even better for local people and provides great places to live, work, study and play.
The Council Plan 2013-17 (6MB)
is a strategic document that provides a medium to long term vision for how we will respond to the opportunities and challenges facing Kingston over the next four years. The document incorporates our community’s vision of the future they want for Kingston in 2035. This extensive community consultation process LivingKingston 2035
has incorporated over 13,500 ideas and comments from our community.
This Plan will help build our future, as well as provide a tool to ensure accountability to the community. The following six goals provide direction for Council’s organisation and help us make decisions, as well as monitor our performance to ensure we stay on track.
- Goal 1 Facilities and Assets that are well used and effectively managed
- Goal 2 A sustainable natural and built environment
- Goal 3 Healthy, strong and connected communities
- Goal 4 A prosperous and dynamic city
- Goal 5 An effective voice
- Goal 6 A well-managed and effective organisation
Each goal is described in regards to its Key Focus area, the services and priority projects to be delivered, as well as success indicators that help measure and track Council’s performance. You can monitor our performance on delivering our Council Plan through our Council Plan Performance Reports and Annual Report.
Every Council is required to prepare and adopt a Council Plan by 30 June in the year following a general election, which is now conducted in October on a four year cycle. Council adopted the One Vision Council Plan 2013-17 & Living Kingston 2035 at the Ordinary Council meeting on Monday 24 June 2013. Kingston's One Vision Council Plan remains without adjustment until June 2017. Our previous Council Plan 2009-13 and annual updates can be viewed here.
Strategic Resource Plan
The Strategic Resource Plan forms part of the Council Plan and is updated annually. It provides a four-year financial outlook and ensures that Strategies contained within the Council Plan are budgeted for. It contains a budgeted income statement; balance sheet; cash flow statement; capital works statement and human resource statement.
Council adopted the Strategic Resource Plan 2016-2020, subject to any changes in Council’s adopted 2016/17 Annual Budget being reflected in a revised Strategic Resource Plan, at its Ordinary Meeting on 23 May 2016.
